Dr. Robert P. Waugh, M.D.

Dr. Robert P. Waugh earned his Doctor of Medicine at The University of Maryland Medical Center. Dr. Waugh completed a Fellowship in Hand and Microsurgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard University in 2010. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of Hand and Upper Extremity disorders and injuries. His professional interests include compression neuropathies, upper extremity trauma, basal joint arthritis, carpal instability, rheumatoid arthritis, microsurgery, and wilderness medicine.
Although Dr. Waugh has only been with the practice for a short time, he has already built a reputation for his patient centered care, rapport with his patients and excellent surgical outcomes.
Dr. Waugh enjoys kayaking, scuba diving and woodworking and resides in Acton with his 2 children.
Steven C. Hollis, M.D.
Joined Coastal Orthopedics in 1989.
Dr. Hollis received his Medical Degree from George Washington University and completed his Orthopedic Residency at Hahnemann University, Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Hollis became Board Certified in 1992 by AAOS. He is now the Chief of the Dept. of Orthopedics at Beverly Hospital. Dr. Hollis has been elected by his department to server as the Chief of Orthopedic Surgery at Beverly Hospital for several consecutive terms and he still serves in this leadership role at present time. He serves on Medical Executive Committee at Beverly Hospital and is actively involved in other committees related to clinical quality, joint replacement initiatives and general orthopedics. Dr. Hollis is consistently recognized as a leader in clinical quality benchmarks within his department and a steward of patient safety and quality at Beverly Hospital.
Dr. Hollis specializes in total joint replacement, knee and hip, and together with Dr. Kyle Lacy and Dr. Jaipal Gandhi, make up the total joint service line at Coastal Orthopedics Associates. Dr. Hollis also treats non-surgical back patients.
Dr. Hollis and his wife Lisa, a Gloucester native, live in Beverly. He enjoys competitive sailing and skiing.
William L. Paly, M.D.
Joined Coastal Orthopedics in 1992.
Dr. Paly specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of the Hand and Upper Extremity disorders and injuries. He received his Medical Degree from the University of Massachusetts and completed his Orthopedic Residency at Yale University. He then completed a Hand Fellowship at Tufts University and also holds a Masters Degree in Public Health from Harvard University. Dr. Paly became Board Certified in 1995 by AAOS.
Dr. Paly is a recognized and well respected hand surgeon on the North Shore and has built close and effective relationships with the primary care base within our area based on his consistent and exemplary care of his patients over many decades.
Dr. Paly and his wife Amy have lived in Marblehead for many years.
Jaipal S. Gandhi, M.D.
Joined Coastal Orthopedics in 2010.
Dr. Gandhi specializes in sports medicine, with emphasis on shoulder, elbow, hip, and knee arthroscopic and open reconstructive surgery. He has a special interest in the management and treatment of complex shoulder disorders. This includes minimally invasive approaches for rotator cuff disease, labrum and ligament injuries, instability, and shoulder replacement surgery.
He received his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine and completed his Orthopedic Residency at LenoxHill Hospital in NY. He then completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at Kerlan Jobe Orthopedic Clinic in CA. During that time, he worked as an assistant team physician for the Los Angeles Lakers, Dodgers, Kings, Sparks, Anaheim Ducks, and University of Southern California Football Team. He has been very active in orthopedic research, and presented at both national and international meetings. Dr. Gandhi was Board Certified in 2012 by AAOS, and is a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America and America Orthopedic Society of Sports Medicine.
As a passionate sports enthusiast, Dr. Gandhi understands the finer aspects involved in taking care of athletes across all age groups. His personal interests include golf, basketball, running, swimming, skiing, and softball.
Kyle W. Lacy, M.D., M.S.
Joined Coastal Orthopedics in 2017.
Dr. Kyle Lacy earned his Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Masters of Science degree in biochemistry from the University of California, San Diego. He went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Kentucky, College if Medicine. Dr. Lacy completed his othopedic surgery residency at the Detroit Medical Center, Wayne State University. He then completed fellowship training in Adult Hip & Knee Reconstruction at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Lacy has conducted research on cartilage biomechanics in the knee at the Detroit Medical Center, Orthopaedic Laboratory. He has also led clinical studied related to hip replacement as a fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital. He has authored and co-authored numerous orthopaedic publications and book chapters, focusing on surgery of the hip and knee.
Dr. Lacy specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of hip and knee arthritis, avascular necrosis, as well as infection and fractures of the hip and knee. He performs primary hip and knee replacement (arthroplasty) surgery. His fellowship training at Massachusetts General Hospital has given him the experience necessary to tackle complex revision hip and knee replacement surgeries as well. He also performs arthroscopic joint preservation and cartilage transplantation procedures. He provides treatments such as hip and knee injections, and reserves surgery as an option only after all non-operative treatments has been attempted.
Dr. Lacy and his wife Kristin, a Rockport native, both enjoy living on the North Shore. He enjoys marathon running, walking, boating and surfing, which he continues to do on the Gloucester shore line.
Ashley N. Mastrangelo, DPM
Joined Coastal Orthopedics in 2017.
Dr. Ashley Mastrangelo earned her Bachelor of Arts at Wesleyan University and Master of Science at Northeastern University. While earning her Masters, she co-authored numerous scientific papers while working at Harvard Medical School and Childrens Hospital of Boston. She earned her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine at Temple University and completed her residency at Brown University and Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island where she received certification in Scandinavian Total Ankle Replacement.
Dr. Mastrangelo specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of a broad range of foot and ankle conditions, ranging from routine to complex. She is dedicated to providing superior foot and ankle care to patients of all ages, believing that prompt diagnosis with early intervention and prevention are key. She provides a full range of podiatric medical care including both conservative and surgical therapies.
Foot and ankle conditions she treats include: diabetic foot evaluation and risk assessment, orthotics, elective surgical procedures (bunions, hammertoes), foot and ankle fracture repair, reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, sports medicine and diabetic limb salvage.
Dr. Mastrangelo is a native of Marblehead and is thrilled to be returning to the North Shore.
